Lots of Books on Genocide

About a month ago, Natasha, a bookblogger who blogs at Maw Books Blog, started a series of posts in which she explores genocide through book recommendations. I figured this might be of interest for some people who read this blog as well. This is how Natasha introduced her plan:
Genocide.

Don’t you just hate that word?

Don’t you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders when you sound that word out?

It makes me shudder.

I’ve really been thinking about this a lot lately. I’ve been preparing a post about book recommendations to learn more about Darfur and I realized that I would like to make a series out of this topic.

Morbid, I know.

But this is the type of history (as well as current events) that for some unfathomable reason I am completely fascinated by. [...] I will be posting [...] on book recommendations for a particular genocide. I’ll be working my way backwards. I’ll be covering the following conflicts: Darfur, Bosnia, Rwanda, Cambodia, Nazi Holocaust, Rape of Naking, Stalin’s forced famine in Ukraine, and the Armenian’s in Turkey. I was trying to list the major ones, but I’m sure that I’m missing quite a few, so let me know of one that I didn’t catch and I’ll add it in.
Each post features an impressive list of mostly books, but also films, about one of the genocides mentioned in her quote. So far, she has put up three posts with recommendations. The first one has a large list of books on genocide in general. Part 2 cover the ongoing genocide in Darfur and the third part looks at the genocide in Rwanda.

Though Natasha planned to post every week on or close to Mondays, in practice she posts a new part in the series more or less every other week. Well worth to keep an eye on these posts.
